Tilbury Young’s specialisation in the charity sector is well-established, having grown out of the personal involvement and skills of several of the leading members of the firm. Mike Young was, before returning to the profession in the early 1980s, Chief Accountant of the National Trust. He shares, with several colleagues, a firm Christian commitment and involvement in leadership with their various churches.

Who do we work with?
Our charity audit clients include local voluntary organisations, churches of various sizes, common investment funds, groups involved in drug abuse, disability, mobility, age concern, and other services externalised from local authority control. We also act for individuals working in the voluntary sector – church leaders, youth workers, counsellors and consultants. In all these cases we make every effort to work alongside our clients and develop a helpful relationship which frequently goes well beyond traditional accountancy and audit services.

Trust & Companies Limited by Guarantee
Many Trustees of Trusts wonder whether setting up a Guarantee company through which their charity operates provides greater protection against the possibility of personal responsibility. Maybe you are currently forming your charity and are not sure whether a Trust or Guarantee company would be better. You will probably require legal help, but you can benefit from our practical experience assisting with the formation and restructuring of charitable organisations.

We are available at the end of a phone line or by email all year round, and can provide you with ad-hoc advice on charity matters, which would be included in our fixed fee. Of course, if you need more than fast telephone, fax or email support we can quote a fee for any project work, which means you are always in control of your costs.
